Portraits in Ink

Grade 4 students are so proud of their expressive ink portraits! They have finished their self-portraits in 2 different ways. Mrs Murphy photocopied the original sketch as an outline for the ink pen portraits (and we used water colour paints for the original).

Students created contrast in their work. Many students chose to make either the background dark and the hair light or the hair dark and the background light. Students found many other creative ways to use contrast too!

Many lines and patterns were used to create texture in these portraits.

Can you tell what feelings and ideas were expressed by looking at the expression, patterns, clothing and symbols in the portraits below?

Be sure to stop by the library this week and have a look at the beautiful display of Grade 4 work.
