This week in art class, Grade 3 students are investigating a new element of art: texture. I loved hearing the squeals of delight as students discovered yet another way to make interesting textures on their ball of plasticine. In our next art class we will be looking at the art of Barbara Reid and creating our own plasticine art. Look at the link below. If you like, you can watch her videos and try making plasticine art yourself at home. You can purchase plasticine at most grocery stores and book stores. Visit the link below.
Before beginning our Barbara Reid art this week, We mixed red, yellow and blue plasticine to see what colours we could make. We learned that PRIMARY colours mix to make SECONDARY colours... and we learned about new element of art: Colour!
- yellow and blue made green
- red and yellow made orange
- red and blue made purple
