Grade 5 students got into
form (the element of art) during this unit. After reading a picture book,
Spoon by
Amy Krouse Rosenthal, students explored the theme of personal uniqueness and perspective. They each created a spoon using their new ceramics skills (pinch pots and attaching). Spoons were fired and decorated with a glaze-like metallic paint. Visit the Grade 3-5 Celebration of Arts in May to see more of these creative spoons!

We also looked at the traditional Welch "Love Spoons".
Some students decided to give their spoons to people that they care about :)
